Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas took to X to say what many people were thinking - It could happen here.
“Major cities, including this one, learn from incidents about how and what we can do to prevent future tragedies,” Lucas wrote.
At 3:15 a.m. on January 1, a man rammed a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year’s Day revealers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Investigators there said it was intentional. The FBI is investigating the attack as an act of terrorism and said it believes the driver did not act alone.
“When there’s large gatherings of people, they’re potential targets,” said retired FBI agent Jeff Lanza.
