Kansas City 2025 Homicide #7: Man Shot Dead Inside Car

Yes, it's early in the year and there is still a great deal of hope that lower homicide stats can be achieved.

However . . . Just for a bit of context . . .

KCMO NOW MORE THAN DOUBLES THE NUMBER OF HOMICIDES COUNTED AT THIS TIME LAST YEAR!!!

Nearly halfway through the month in 2024 last year . . . KCMO had only recorded 2 homicides thanks to an extremely cold January. Unofficially, right now, the count seems to be 7. 

This time around . . . The local criminal class seems to be adapting after a spate of killing at the outset of the year and the latest report of deadly gunfire overnight.

Here is the first report . . .

Homicide 30th and Indiana

Early this morning, just before 12:15AM officers were patrolling in the area of E 30th street and Indiana Ave. when they observed a vehicle stopped in the roadway and facing oncoming traffic. Officers stopped to check the vehicle and any occupants that may be inside. As they approached the vehicle, an adult male victim could be seen inside suffering from apparent gunshot trauma and unresponsive. EMS was called to the scene and declared the victim deceased.

Detective are working to determine what led up to the shooting and are actively working to identify a possible person of interest. No one has been identified and we do not currently have anyone in custody at this time.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin gathering any evidence and collecting witness statements.

This incident is being investigated as a homicide and is going at this time.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
