Kansas City 2025 Homicide #10: Gunfire Kills Latest Local Victim

Homicide 56th and Westridge

This evening, at 7:30 PM, officers were dispatched to 56th and Westridge on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival they were directed to a residence near the intersection. In the yard they located a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds.  Several witnesses were rendering aid to the victim as officers arrived. Officers took over life saving measures and ordered EMS.  The victim was transported from the scene with life threatening injuries. Several hours later the victim died at the hospital.

This is being investigated as a homicide and no one is in custody. Detectives and crime scene personnel are working to determine what led up to the incident. They are gathering witness statements and processing any available physical evidence.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
