More than a few locals have posted about this trend via social media.

Meanwhile . . . 

Given the tough penalties for mail fraud and the relative worthlessness of most postage . . . We're uncertain if fear is justified or part a politicized attack against old school institutions.

Either way . . . Here's the word . . .

"An Overland Park police spokesperson said they’re investigating six incidents of theft from collection boxes at the downtown Overland Park Postal Service branch at 8010 Conser Street.

"The spokesperson said the thefts date back to December."

The United States Postal Inspection Service and Overland Park police are investigating several instances of mail theft.
