The tragic death of a Jackson County worker has sparked a fire storm at the courthouse.
Here's the news we have this morning that might provide additional context to recent reporting . . .
LEGISLATORS SEEM READY TO DEMAND INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION AMID OUTCRY OVER THE SEEMINGLY PREVENTABLE WORKER DEATH!!!
Real talk . . .
THE JACKSON COUNTY EXEC'S TEAM IS TAKING HEAT FOR THEIR CONFLICTING RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS!!!
Here's what legislators want to know . . .
- Who was in charge of the decision?!?
- Why was this rural road a priority amid dangerous conditions?!?
- How can this tragic death help to avoid future loss of life and protect workers?!?
And that's just a starting point.
The reality is that the crisis is turning into another political disaster for the Executive's team.
For now . . . Here's the latest report and a look at the sitch . . .
"Jackson County Administrator Troy Schulte places the fault on 61-year-old Everett Carter, whose county truck struck him as he tried tow another county vehicle.
"But County Executive Frank White is less sure in responses, as he tells FOX4, in his 10-years of being here in Jackson County, this is the way things have always worked and theirs is no need to change anything. Even in light of Carter’s passing.
"All we know right now for sure is that Carter is dead and the county is running from accountability.
" 'These individuals thought they could get the vehicle unstuck themselves. I appreciate their commitment, 2020 hindsight, they should have walked away and towed the vehicle,' Schulte said."
