"In exchange, court documents noted that SUSPECT would direct the immigrants to the location of a planned robbery at a specific time. He allegedly recruited individuals to pose as robbers and provided them with directions. One of the posed robbers was Guiterrez.

"An affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint revealed that each incident involved immigrants who later told police they had car trouble and pulled over to diagnose it. Soon after they stopped, another vehicle would arrive and robbers would strike and take cash as they fired a round or two into the victim’s vehicle.

"Investigators with the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department indicated that initially 11 incidents were identified that followed this pattern. These cases were linked to each other based on ballistic imaging technology. Detectives found that a single firearm was likely used in all of the robberies."
