Family Outcry Persists One Year After Kansas City Chiefs Fans Triple Death

For months, some of the victims' family members have speculated the men died due to a drug overdose - potentially one involving fentanyl, a synthetic opioid approved for treating pain often laced into cocaine and other illicit recreational drugs.

If drugs were involved, David Harrington's stepmother Theresa Harrington told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo in an interview last year, she believes "there is more to the story."

“David wasn’t a drug addict, or anything like that," she told Cuomo via a virtual video interview posted online Feb. 2, 2024. "He didn't take the drugs to get dead. If he took the drugs on his own, he took them to get high."

The man's biological mother, Jennifer Marquez told Fox News Digital in April, the family was "warned it would take a while" for answers to come in her son's death but said it was frustrating and "so hard not having any information."
