Exclusive: DaRon McGee Returns As Jackson County Legislature Chair

This afternoon starts with BREAKING NEWS regarding an important development at the Courthouse and insight as to direction of local politics at the outset of 2025.

Here's what insiders tell us regarding Legislator McGee's path back to power . . .

4TH DISTRICT LEGISLATOR DARON McGEE WINS VOTE TO RETURN AS LEGISLATIVE CHAIR!!!

Local news will pick up the vote later but probably won't offer much perspective.

This courthouse move is important for a few reasons . . .

- Let's not forget about the recall against the Exec that continues to move forward. The Chair will have a critical role to play in POSSIBLY selecting a new exec to fulfill the remainder of the term.

- The stadium discussion is restarting and the chair will play a key role in these ongoing talks.

- Overall, it seems like the Legislature wants/needs a consensus builder as their leader after more than a year of intense and often bitter fighting betwixt factions.

UPDATE: The vote broke down 5-4 and that's important for courthouse watchers to notice because that might be how the factions line up for future tough decisions.

Moreover . . . Legislator Charlie Franklin as the losing candidate was a bit of a surprise.

And so . . . Here at www.TonysKansasCity.com we merely want to share this local, political fact. Check our socials if you really NEED to comment but we're gonna close comments on this one because they'll probably be plenty of time to talk about courthouse moves going forward.

Developing . . .
