Show-Me Surprising Progressive Turnabout On Charter Schools?!?

Actually . . .

Charter schools have been widely celebrated in KCMO as they provide the only viable choice for local middle-class denizens will choose the public option with a few safety parameters . . . Basically ensuring that youngsters won't be subjected to beatings by fellow students with no consequences that typically confront "regular" KCPS schools. Debate that tragic fact of life all you want . . . It's part of the reason why KCPS has lost MOST of its student population over the course of two generations. 

Now . . . 

Some of our progressive friends might be looking to limit the prevalence of charter schools in the name of "local control" and/or given that urban districts are now more of a holding corp. and don't really control public education any longer . . . And so . . . Here's a preview of the fight . . .

"Republican legislators are set to push for further expansion of charter schools around Missouri when the General Assembly reconvenes next month.

"Meanwhile, Democrats are pushing for more local control in counties where charters already operate, along with rolling back an expansion . . ."
