KC Tenants Rent Strike Results In Low-Income Eviction Notices

And right before Christmas it seems that social justice warriors have brought a great deal of trouble to the doorstep of low-income residents. 

To wit . . .

EVICTION LETTERS FOLLOW KC TENANTS RENT STRIKE THAT WAS CALLED OFF EARLIER THIS MONTH!!!

It was an outcome that we feared and so many AWESOME TKC READERS predicted.

Additional protest probably won't help these souls who will have to find a new place to live this cold, cold winter . . . Check-it:

Some tenants joined the Quality Hill Tenants Union, as well as the KC Tenants Union, in a rent strike to try to force the hand of the property owner, the Sentinel Corporation (listed in Jackson County court documents as Quality Hill Apartments Limited Partnership), to make immediate and permanent repairs.

The rent strike lasted through October and November, and tenants voted to stop the strike on Dec. 1 after noticeable changes began to occur at Quality Hill, such as the installation of a new boiler.

On Dec. 10, Sentinel filed "petitions for rent and possession" against 18 tenants at Quality Hill. The petitions state the named tenants owe hundreds in rent.

Tenants in a Kansas City apartment complex say they're facing 'threat of eviction'

"I'm 75 years old, and I don't know what I'm going to do. I can't afford to move," said Quality Hill Apartments tenant Michael Wardrum.The property owner of Quality Hill says Wardrum and several others owe hundreds of dollars in rent and late fees after a rent strike.
