This report might help propagate the myth KC's great transit experiment is self-sustaining.
In fact . . .
TOY TRAIN ADVERTISING IS NOTHING MORE THAN A PUBLICITY STUNT!!!
Actually . . .
It's more likely that this kind of signage is a nice way to buy local goodwill and votes for local institutions that might not drive sales.
Nevertheless . . .
We liberated this passage from the Biz Journal because it offers a glimpse at pricing . . . Check-it:
"The Streetcar Authority’s sponsorship program includes advertising at streetcar stops and sponsoring a vehicle with a wrap. Local sports teams, organizations aiming to promote local landmarks, events and public attractions can sponsor a vehicle . . .
"The cost to produce the artwork for the vehicle can range between $9,000 to $15,500, according to the Streetcar Authority’s 2024-2025 advertising and sponsor requirements. That doesn’t include the monthly cost to display the wrap, which at minimum is $30,000 for a three-month contract and an additional $6,500 to $10,000 each month. Those costs vary for nonprofit and for-profit organizations and the length of the contract."
"For streetcar stops, it costs between $600 to $1,000 to produce artwork. That’s on top of the cost to advertise at a stop, which ranges from $2,500 to $3,750 a month, depending on the location."
