Kansas City Offers EPIC Tax Breaks To Keep Blue KC Downtown

For all intents & purposes . . . The so-called "Downtown Renaissance" was killed by COVID and this cowtown still requires INCREDIBLE subsidy to keep people inside the loop.

Here's the latest example and the money line we've once again liberated from behind a paywall for the purposes of news & education . . . Check-it:

"A proposed ordinance, sponsored by City Manager Brian Platt's office, would provide Blue KC a 10-year, 50% personal property tax abatement, plus a sales tax exemption, pending state approval, on $21 million in anticipated furniture, fixture and equipment purchases. The purchases are part of an approximately $75 million investment the nonprofit health insurer expects to make at its new headquarters in the 1400KC office building, according to city documents. "
