Kansas City Northeast News Asks For Christmas Donations

This year we've covered their nonprofit journey and an abrupt change in management.

Now, we notice an ask that deserves attention . . .

Don't get it twisted we're not making fun . . .

Donations are now how most news local outlets make their cash:

The Star takes donations.

The Pitch takes donations.

And leading prog blogs in both Missouri (The Independent) & Kansas (The Reflector) regularly ask for donations.

Both KCUR & PBS are nonprofits who are funded mostly by donations with some government help and A LOT of corporate grants.

And so . . . Here's a peek at the latest ask from this community newspaper . . .

"The transition to a nonprofit community publication hasn’t been as easy as we hoped, however, there is a solution — and it’s you, the reader. If there was a story you enjoyed, offer financial support. If your kid was pictured on the front page, donate. If you won tickets for a Monarchs game or Renaissance Festival, give back. Anything and everything is appreciated. If every reader donated one dollar for each copy we print each week, that would well outweigh the weekly printing costs . . ."
