For our early birds with a few moments to spare, we wanted to post a glimpse at how our cowtown mainstream journalist elite view the events of this year.
Local stadium issues weigh heavily on the conversation along with the obligatory apologetics regarding the homicide count.
We notice that the otherwise horrific state of the local economy was TOTES glossed over in a year when pocketbook issues probably determined the course of the election and so much about local life.
We can explain the omission . . .
There's actually only one news outlet in the KC metro covering money matters -- They hide most of their content behind a paywall AND rely heavily on presser content from local biz. Therefore, negative local economic news is often downplayed.
And so . . .
The discussion of culture war and mostly partisan politics dominated this conversation whilst economic hardship escapes a great deal of scrutiny . . . It's hard to believe that this isn't by design but we'll save our conspiracy theories for another post.
For now . . . We share the otherwise cheery video that offers a glimpse at how mainstream media sets the local agenda . . . Here's the description . . .
"Nick Haines, Eric Wesson, Dana Wright, Dave Helling and Kris Ketz make their picks for 2024's biggest winners and losers, KC's person of the year, which stories received too much reporting and which stories didn't receive nearly enough attention. Nick also checks the scorecard on last year's predictions and looks into the crystal ball for 2025."
