Kansas City Homicide #136: Another Deadly Shooting Near Blue Ridge Little Caesar’s

We share this Kansas City South side slice of life that offers a glimpse of consistent violence along this local Boulevard . . . Here's the report . . . 

Homicide 8700 block of Blue Ridge

This evening, shortly after 5PM, officers were dispatched to the 8700 block of Blue Ridge Blvd. on a reported shooting.

When officers arrived to the area, they immediately began to canvas for a victim. There were several people in the area summoning officers to a nearby vehicle, where an adult male victim was reportedly shot. Officers located the victim unresponsive and suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. EMS responded shortly after and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

At this time, we do not have a person of interest identified or anyone in custody at this time.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to begin collecting any evidence and gathering witness statements.Our detectives are working quickly and efficiently to determine what led up to the shooting.

KCPD social workers have also responded to the scene to provide assistance to anyone suffering as a result of this incident.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
