Kansas City 2024 Homicide #140: Gunfire Kills Youngster During Dispute

Everyone seems to know that the uptick in killing remains constant since 2020 and taking credit for statistical dips probably discounts so much human misery on local streets.

Homicide 3300 blk of Bales

This evening just after 5:15 PM patrol officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Bales on a reported shooting.

As they arrived, officers were directed to a residence on the block. Inside they located a juvenile male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers immediately began performing life saving measures and ordered emergency medical personnel to the scene. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital where he died of his injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed there was an argument that led to shots being fired and the victim ultimately being struck. Detectives are canvassing the area for potential witnesses and crime scene investigators are gathering any available physical evidence.
