Jackson County Likely To Lose 70 MILLION BUCKS This Week

Technically, the deadline to allocate hotly contested federal ARPA funds is December 31st.

However . . .

We've spoken with more than a few insider about this one and here's the reality of the situation. We're not talking about getting a few signatures and making sure letters are postmarked. This is a complicated deal a litany of requirements that need to be part of binding legal agreements.

Accordingly . . .

INSIDERS TELL US: IT'S GAME OVER IF JACKSON COUNTY DOESN'T ALLOCATE FEDERAL COVID CASH THIS WEEK!!!

Just to prove that we're not just gleaning MSM reports, here are a couple of deets that insiders have told www.TonysKansasCity.com that local newsies haven't mentioned just yet . . .

- Legislator Jalen Anderson is suffering health problems again and his absence is slowing down the process.

- The Exec still doesn't have the votes to get his orders across the finish line . . . He's unlikely to get them without giving up A LOT.

-  Legislator Megan Marshall is now taking over budget meeting duties but still can't bring old allies along . . . They're probably smart to be suspicious of her given that she double-crossed them on the stadium deal.

Again . . . We can't emphasize this enough . . .

70 MILLION BUCKS IS STILL A LOT OF MONEY & DESPERATELY NEEDED HERE IN JACKSON COUNTY!!!

There will be a lot of blame to pass around if the cash goes back to the feds but, our perspective is that the buck ultimately stops with Exec Frank White if only because he has the most name recognition of anybody in the building.

Still . . .

When the decision becomes final we expect this 70 MILLION DOLLAR BLUNDER will become fodder for the national news cycle and offer many Americans a glimpse at Kansas City politics.

Developing . . .
