The lawsuits accuse Kansas City-based H&R Block (NYSE: HRB) of negligence, breach of implied contract, unjust enrichment and breach of fiduciary duty. They claim that despite promises to use “reasonable administrative, technical, and physical efforts to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure,” H&R Block maintained its clients’ personal identifiable information in an alleged reckless manner, without adequate safeguards and in unencrypted form.
