Forgive our saucy post headline for this otherwise bland serving of local fare which remembers the nearly forgotten era of white immigrants & a slew of other minorities who helped to build the cuisine of this cowtown.
The contributions of these restaurateurs move Kansas City beyond the mostly barefoot farmers & drunken traders who subsisted by way of whiskey, tobacco & chewing the gristle off of animal pelts back when this town was almost named Possom Trot . . . Check-it . . .
Not all of these restaurants have been continually operated in the same form, or under the same ownership, since they first started serving. But all of the members of Kansas City’s “100-year club” have drawn upon their original concepts to remain a tried-and-true staple of the local dining scene.
