Lenexa, Kansas Suspect Charged With Shooting Wife, Son & Neighbor's Dog

In an otherwise peaceful neighborhood, a deadly rampage has shocked the community and raised questions about motives beyond the mere "domestic violence" description.

"According to the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office, 53-year-old Todd Michael Donovan has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after he allegedly shot and killed his wife, 52-year-old Sheila Donovan, and son, 22-year-old Tyler Donovan, on Friday, Nov. 1.

"Donovan is also facing one count of cruelty to animals after investigators say he shot and killed his neighbor’s dog on the same night. "

"Meanwhile, those in the neighborhood are still baffled by the crime; not just by the double homicide, but also by the seeming unrelated killing of a neighbor’s dog.

"Donovan’s first court appearance is scheduled for Monday at 1:30 p.m. He is being held on a $2 million bond."
