Actually, employment was up earlier this year with more layoffs hitting as we approached the last quarter.
Here's a quick summary of the sitch and NOT really a reason to be too downbeat . . . Yet . . .
"The Kansas Department of Labor and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said preliminary estimates showed a 0.1% escalation from September to October. It contributed to the substantive rise from 2.6% in October 2023.
"Kansas lost 1,500 private-sector jobs and gained 1,300 government jobs in October, the monthly report said. The October report showed loss of 1,100 jobs in the hospitality and leisure industry and the loss of 900 positions in the transportation, trade and utility sector."
