In the grand scheme of things, dead-tree media declarations are over-rated . . . But a recent editorial from the newspaper offers us a glimpse at future talking points for local progressives and, of course, the obligatory chest-thumping from our conservative pals.
Again . . . The season of pardons for both Presidents and politically connected convicts is now upon us.
From our low-end perspective, we humbly offer that objective observers have to be skeptical against arguments regarding "the rule of law" from both sides.
Meanwhile . . . Here's the crux of what the newspaper has to say . . .
"Clemency on what basis?
"The cop had no business on the property where Lamb lived without probable cause that a crime had been committed or a warrant, Phillips ruled. So why is Kehoe so intent on allowing this convicted killer to leave prison early? We can count many instances in which high-ranking state officials such as Parson and Attorney General Andrew Bailey have denied freedom to wrongfully convicted individuals and have fought to keep them in prison for crimes evidence has shown many of them most likely didn’t commit . . . In the DeValkenaere case, all Missourians should be sickened by this pending injustice."
