Kansas City Mayor Q Shares Johnson County Royals Fact Check

Cowtown subtitle . . .

FESCOE MIGHT, IN FACT, BE FULL OF IT!!!

Forgive us for the follow-up but the Mayor smacking down a sports talker is always fun. Remember, local sport stalker Bob Fescoe did a public service earlier in the week by distracting us from useless election analysis by way of PROBABLY inventing fake news about the Royals moving to Overland Park or some other tragic JoCo suburb.

And now . . .

We notice Mayor Q seems a little bit exasperated by the latest batch for baseball rumors which imagine that the people of JoCo have excitement for more traffic jamming their rat race maze of streets.

Here's the word that's worth highlighting today . . .

“As rumors now circulate around the 19th potential Royals stadium site, I cannot comment on each rumored location, and won’t.

The Royals have long discussed the desire for a downtown ballpark and I take them at their word. The City of Kansas City and the Royals have met over twenty times since April, and continue to have productive discussions related to downtown ballpark development.

That said, the City has very real every day priorities on which to spend its time. Kansas Citians and our entire region in Missouri and Kansas deserve an opportunity to move beyond the rumors, the leverage plays, and the incentive battles that have been part of the Royals stadium discussion now for years.

Kansas City loves the Royals and we believe we have put forward, along with Missouri, compelling opportunities and support for remaining in Kansas City, Missouri. This chat cannot, however, remain at first base forever.”
