Kansas City Election 2024 Winners & Losers

For those who don't remember . . . We start this post with visions of heiress Gracie Hunt at the White House earlier this year in what was possibly the closest this cowtown will get to presidential power in the near future.

But right now we're not here to talk about hotties or three-peat Super Bowl dreams . . . Instead we need to unpack the BIG PICTURE aftermath of last night's election with more honesty, snark & fart jokes than most of the other cowtown hacks.

To wit . . .

IT'S TIME FOR TKC TO CALL OUT CAMPAIGN 2024 WINNERS & LOSERS!!!

As always, we need the help of KICK-ASS TKC READERS to complete the task but it's our job to start the bidding.

Let's talk political triumphs first . . .

THE WINNERS

Show-Me Vice Victory: Gambling & Abortion

Traditional morality took at hit at the ballot box last night despite so many protestations about traditional family values in flyover country.

In bipartisan efforts Missouri voters spoke clearly: They want to bet big and don't view abortion as a priority.

There's a prediction of legal challenges against Missouri abortion now slated to be enshrined in the state constitution but we can see a future wherein smarter Republicans understand that abortion rights couldn't have passed without a great deal of unspoken GOP support from voters who were more than happy with their hypocrisy and the secrecy of the ballot.

As for gambling . . . No matter where the money ends up . . . Missouri has always enjoyed betting big no matter the risks.

Voters Endorse Inflation

Higher minimum wages & more taxes in Jackson County show us that voters aren't as "hawkish" on the economy as they seemed earlier in the year . . . At least when they're convinced that somebody else will be picking up the tab.

Blue Dots & Red State Divisions Remain Intact

Red & blue bubbles ruled the night . . . The GOP dominated Missouri & Kansas but tiny enclaves of progressives in Overland Park & KMCO held strong.

The Losers

Lucas Kunce

That's enough out of this guy.

This Pentagon progressive needs to move back to K Street because his shtick clearly isn't convincing anybody in Missouri. Kunce is a hapless politico who is more actor/model than political leader. If the Missouri Democrats EVER want to move beyond social media politics and speak to voters about issues that REALLY matter then they will step away from this kind of virtue signaling politics and work to make connections with the community beyond what political chat shows think is important. Lucas Kunce isn't cut out for that kind of work . . . He's a cover story and, clearly, not a very interesting one at that . . .

Kansas Guv Kelly

The "Middle Of the Road" PAC effort was a clever ploy that almost worked but was eventually defeated. The Guv doesn't lose much here but her effort to play hardball with opponents will likely be remembered and might inspire even more push back from the GOP moving forward.

Mainstream Media "Fake News" FAIL . . .

We talked about trust in the media over the weekend and from our vantage that's the biggest takeaway from this election on both a national & local level.

ONCE AGAIN MAGA PROVED THAT "FAKE NEWS" CAN'T BE TRUSTED TO OFFER ACCURATE REPORTING ON THE ELECTORATE!!!

Here are just a few bits of misinformation . . .

- MSM overestimated support for the Veep.

- MSM didn't even consider the possibility of Prez Trump leading such a landslide victory by way of the popular vote.

- MSM and so many other outlets played ACTIVIST RATHER THAN JOURNALIST and seemed to push an agenda rather than merely reporting facts & providing perspective.

Here are TKC we perform a great deal of CITIZEN JOURNALISM and we share our perspective (along with hotties in bikinis & lingerie) but rely on smart comments for balance along with snark to help second guess our assumptions.

Gonzo blogging doesn't garner much respect but we feel it's more valuable than just telling people want they want to hear even if that has nothing to do with reality.

BTW, Billie Eilish - BIRDS OF A FEATHER is our song of the day . . . And now . . .

As always we invite www.TonysKansasCity.com readers to share their winners & losers as we move forward into this new era or just another 24 months of MAGA politics before midterms . . .

You decide . . .
