Police Investigate Gunfire Victim Found 'Slumped Over' In Car On Truman & 435

"Investigators have determined the original location of the shooting occurred in Independence, MO. The investigation has been taken over by IPD.  For additional inquiries their office can be contacted."

Homicide Truman and 435

This afternoon just before 4:45 PM patrol officers were dispatched to Truman Road and I-435 on an ambulance in route call.

An individual was reported to be slumped over in a vehicle on the southbound exit ramp of I-435 at Truman. Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim inside of a vehicle with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased at the scene.

This is being investigated as a homicide and there is no one in custody. Detectives and crime scene personnel are processing the scene for any physical evidence. Investigators will also be canvassing the area to locate any potential witnesses or surveillance footage.

If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
