Another local killing in broad daylight confronts this town. Thankfully, officers were able to quickly apprehend a suspect, here's the first report . . .
Homicide 300 block E Linwood
This afternoon just before 1PM officers were dispatched to the 300 block of E. Linwood Boulevard on a reported shooting.
When officers responded to the area, several people pointed in the direction of a nearby business advising someone had been shot. An adult male was located unresponsive in a business parking lot suffering from apparent gunshot trauma. EMS responded shortly after and declared the victim deceased at the scene.
A person of interest was immediately located and taken into custody for further questioning.
Preliminary details indicate that two individuals were engaged in an argument that escalated into gunfire. The relationship between the victim and suspect is actively being investigated, as well as any connection to the business. Detectives are not currently looking for any additional persons of interest.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin gathering evidence and collecting any witness statements.
We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
