Kansas City 2024 Homicide #131: East Side Fight Ends In Fatal Gunfire

Right now we want to share reports on another deadly Sunday shooting as, typically, homicides start to spike as the holiday season approaches. 

Here's the first report . . .

Homicide 5600 blk E 69th

On 11-09-2024 just after 6:30 PM officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of East 69th street on a reported shooting.

Officers located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with critical injuries. The victim was pronounced deceased several hours later at the hospital.

Homicide detectives have taken over the case. Preliminary investigation revealed there was an altercation between two individuals who were known to each other just prior to the shooting. No one is in custody at this point.

If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Homicide detectives directly at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS Hotline anonymously at 816-474-TIPS. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
