Hang On: Kansas Unemployment Call Center Upgrade Coming Soon

Quick update and system status check that's coming about 2 & 1/2 years after tech screw ups BROKE more than a few Kansas residents.

Nevertheless . . . This counts as good news . . . Check-it:

The Kansas Dept. of Labor is installing upgrades to the IT systems used to process unemployment insurance claims.

The current mainframe system dates back to the 1970s, and was blamed for the failures and security breaches that occurred during the pandemic.

People will not be able to access the call center or claim site from 5 p.m. Nov. 13 through 8 a.m. Nov. 19th. Those who need to file for benefits for the week of Nov. 3 to 9 must do so between Noon Nov. 10 and 5 p.m. Nov. 13, or 8 a.m. Nov. 19 to 11:50 p.m. Nov. 23.

KS Dept. of Labor prepares to pause unemployment call center, website for IT upgrade

The Kansas unemployment call center and benefits web site will shut down for a week while the state changes over to updated IT systems.
