"Her dog, Jaxon, was stolen from a family member’s backyard in Oklahoma last October while she was in the hospital.
"According to the suit, when she left the hospital, she started working to find her dog and tracked him down to Wayside Waifs.
"The lawsuit alleges that when she called the Kansas City animal welfare organization to let them know they had her stolen dog– they wouldn’t give the dog back or give her contact information for the new adoptive family.
"The lawsuit says the plaintiff believes further discovery will show that Wayside Waifs sold her dog for a substantial sum."
