Week Of Protest In Kansas City Deploys Antisemitic Tropes

Again . . .

Here's our problem that local media isn't calling out . . .

So much "pro-Palestine" rhetoric is accompanied by the "from the River to the Sea" chant which is a call for extermination.

A note worth referencing again . . .

Let's define terms with this updated post from the American Jewish Committee:

"From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will Be Free” is a common call-to-arms for pro-Palestinian activists. It calls for the establishment of a State of Palestine from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, erasing the State of Israel and its people. It is also a rallying cry for terrorist groups and their sympathizers, from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) to Hamas, which called for Israel’s destruction in its original governing charter in 1988 and was responsible for the October 7, 2023 terror attack on Israeli civilians, murdering over 1,000 people in the single deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust."

And so on today's tragic anniversary of the event that sparked war an untold suffering  . . .

Whilst we might agree with everyone's right to peaceful protest . . . Open hateration is out of bounds.

Moreover . . .

We encourage locals to keep a close eye on groups like KC Tenants and other activists who have openly used inflammatory rhetoric that borders on antisemitism. In fact, remember that not so long ago a KC councilman called out antisemitic posts from an activist political leader working with KC Tenants.

And it's unfortunate that UMKC has now become a hotspot for a great deal of antisemitic rhetoric.

Accordingly . . .

There was a pro-Palestine rally on Saturday on the Plaza and most of Kansas City politely ignored it.

And that might be what happens here . . .

On October 5th, KC Coalition for Palestine and Al-Hadaf KC—in collaboration with Free Palestine KC, JVP, PSL, UMKC SJP, and other local organizations—will begin a week’s worth of actions and events to commemorate the one year of genocide in Gaza.
