Should Kansas City Prohibit Surge Pricing Parking Schemes?!?

Local outcry against Kansas City delving into the murky world of "surge pricing" seems to have met with universal condemnation.

A quick definition of terms . . .

Surge pricing is a strategy used by companies to automatically raise prices when demand for a product or service is high and supply is low.

For the most part Americans HATE this trend that seems to have garnered favor amongst tech companies.

Check another look at recent push back . . .

"New street signs have been installed around the River Market and near the T-Mobile Center to inform drivers of event-based parking rates. The signs state, “This area is subject to event-based pricing,” indicating higher fees during events. The city has been charging a flat rate of $30 to $40 for metered parking in these zones during qualifying events, but will roll back that pricing in River Market later this week."

Accordingly . . .

INSIDERS SUGGEST MORE LEGISLATION TO TAKE KANSAS CITY OUT OF THE "SURGE PRICING" GAME!!!

Here's the word . . .

"Removing surge pricing from KCMO's arsenal would be a victory for taxpayers," an insider messaged us. "There's no reason that city government should charge for services this way. It's just another word for price gouging that shouldn't be tolerated. In doing so, we'd also send a strong message to corporations who attempt this practice . . . KC needs to do more than back down in this situation. We need to stand up against AI technology that only seeks to charge consumers more for basic services."
