Rising US Crime Confirmed As Kansas City Crisis Cont'd

Allow us to give credit to our blog community and share this point of pride . . .

THROUGHOUT 2024 TKC READERS HAVE DISPUTED POLITICAL RHETORIC ABOUT CRIME IN DECLINE BECAUSE THAT DIDN'T MATCH UP WITH OUR LOCAL LIVES!!!

Early in the year Mayor Q was quickly pushed back when he attempted to claim progress on local homicides given that last year KCMO suffered an all-time record for killing on local streets.

Remember . . .

A Super Bowl rally started local tragedy with the loss of a beloved DJ and this Summer the situation worsened with a renowned Irish chef killed during a robbery.

Brookside/Waldo haven't enjoyed any drop in crime as robberies and gunpoint holdups continue to plague that part of town.

And then . . .

Small biz leaders like Matt Shatto are openly attacking Mayor Q over constant break-ins from the River Market to the South Side.

We hate to break it to noobs but crime typically worsens as we get close to the holiday season and social pressure hits even the most callous crooks.

Even worse . . .

There are more than a few indicators that signal recession or at least an economic dip no matter who wins the election.

And so . . .

Homicide has declined in KCMO compared with last year's slaughter but still is on pace to rank as one of this town's deadliest years and there's no solution in store for property crime.

There is reason to hope for progress and there are a lot of good people engaged in the local fight against crime but even the most optimistic souls, who are being honest with us, acknowledge that there's still a lot of work to do to promote public safety.

Meanwhile . . .

Despite fun rallies, feisty interviews a great deal of MSM support . . . VP Kamala Harris and many progressive leaders are now facing backlash for spinning a narrative about crime that NEVER matched up with reality or the life experience of so many urban voters in Kansas City and across the nation.
