Here are the basics . . .

The 10-2 vote in favor of the ban Monday comes after months of discussions and comments from both Prairie Village homeowners and those who own short-term rentals.

If the ban is approved at a future council meeting, it would ban renting any property for fewer than 30-days. If the plan earns final approval it would take effect Nov. 1, 2025.

The biggest concerns voiced during Monday night’s council meeting involved safety for people who live near short-term rentals as well as noise and other concerns that can happen, according to homeowners.
