Newsflash: No Plans For Mission Gateway After 18 Years Of FAIL

MISSION GATEWAY STAYS LOSING DESPITE NEARLY TWO DECADES OF EMPTY PROMISES!!!

At this point it seems like tearing down the old mall was kind of a mistake AND they could have built one of the metro's greatest dog parks on the site by now.

Backstory liberated from behind a local paywall . . . 

The Mission Gateway saga began about 18 years ago when the Mission Mall closed and then was demolished in 2006. Through the years, the property at the southwest corner of Johnson Drive and Roe Avenue has cycled through numerous proposals, ranging from a 75,000-square-foot aquarium to a Walmart-anchored mixed-use development . . .

After terminating its agreement with the Mission Gateway developers last summer, the City Council voted to eliminate the CID and terminate the TIF project plan. No subsequent plans for the site have emerged.

Foreclosure lawsuit against Mission Gateway property owner crawls forward - Kansas City Business Journal

After more than a year of litigation, a final foreclosure decision on the Mission Gateway property could come early next year.
