KC Tenants Taking Credit For Cash Award Announced By Congressman Cleaver?!?

This week, reporting mostly manufactured by a local activist group deserves scrutiny because it offers a hint that the "historic rent strike" might be nothing more than smoke & mirrors. 

Consider . . . 

KC TENANTS DECLARE VICTORY AFTER FED CASH PAID TO DUMPY APARTMENTS!!!

Of course we hope that living conditions improve for locals. 

However . . . 

Giving KC Tenants total credit for social media flexing and friendly media coverage might be a bit of a stretch.

Even worse . . .

The Kansas City rent strike continues as low-income locals damage their credit and rack up more debt ahead of the holidays.

"U.S. Representative Emanuel Cleaver II, said Friday that Fannie Mae has provided $1,350,000 to Trigild, Inc., the court-appointed landlord at the Independence Towers apartment complex.

"This is in addition to $425,000 provided earlier this year.

"The funding comes after KC Tenants and the Independence Towers Tenant Union gave Cleaver a tour of the complex last month, showing him water damage, other property issues, and what it's like to live next to units that have been deemed unsafe."
