Kansas City has a higher average daily ridership than all other metros except Portland. Kansas City averaged daily ridership of 4,979 passengers in 2023. Portland, which has a service area population nearly four times the size of Kansas City’s, averaged 7,245. Portland’s streetcar also charges passengers $2 a trip.
Tucson, with a service area population double Kansas City’s, came closest to Kansas City’s average daily ridership with 4,725 passengers.
Kansas City’s streetcar serves one of the smallest service area populations: 33,940.
