Tonight we note a bit of disappointment for the home team despite their resounding 2024 comeback story from 106 losses last year to now standing amongst the best in baseball.
Even better, diehard fans might have a bit of hope given that the pinstripes didn't seem so overwhelming and the contest wasn't entirely out of reach.
And of course . . . The background in all of this is the constantly hyped downtown stadium proposal part deux kinda hinges on post-season success.
Still . . . In a contest that was down to the wire, the Royals took the L . . . Here's a quick recap:

And so . . .Royals, Yankees set to continue storied postseason history in 2024 ALDS
Today, October 5, 2024, the Royals will once again play at Yankee Stadium. A matchup decades in the making has many fans around the league ready to see what will happen.
All of this inspires our www.TonysKansasCity.com playlist on the topic of baseball related songs . . .
Dammit . . . This one is impossible not to hear in October so we're getting it out of the way early even if it's not one of our faves:
A much better song from The Boss offers up more than a bit of 80s nostalgia . . . Our favorite note on the tune . . . “Glory Days” is a comic reverie about the power of nostalgia to make us laugh instead of cry. It’s funny, touching, rousing, catchy. It’s a nearly perfect pop song. However an author recently noted that a key lyric in the song mistakenly refers to an often lethal combination of cocaine & heroin rather than a type of pitch.
We all know the backstory about Mrs. Robinson from Simon & Garfunkel . . . Joe DiMaggio never had a sense of humor despite getting a chance to boink Marilyn Monroe. However . . . A 90s-era story of The Lemonheads desperately needing a hit and to keep record execs happy might speak to the current state of corporate affairs even more aptly.
A worthwhile throwback country music interlude . . . In the 90s, "Cheap Seats" was actually a change up for Alabama, Tom Roland of New Country magazine praised the song for "avoiding the now-stale Dixie tributes" that were present in the band's other songs.
Our final selection comes from a movie taking its name from the unofficial anthem for Major League Baseball. At the time critics trashed "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" which remains one of the most beloved campy American classics according to cinema fans.
As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe & fun Satuday night.

GO ROYALS!!!
