Kansas City Menthol & Tobacco Flavor Ban Coming Soon?!?

Actually . . .

The history of menthol cigarettes and potential bans is exceptionally complicated.

It's not even as simple as some politicos would like to think given urban resistance to bans that would protect public health.

Fun fact . . .

Did you know that the 40 ounce booze bottle is banned in Kansas City?!?

True.

That most convenient and acclaimed serving size of liquor is not available inside city limits because 90s era hip-hop lyrics resonated far too greatly with KCMO politicos.

We would complain about the nanny-state but people don't really need to be smoking this garbage anyhoo.

Meanwhile . . .

If anybody wants to buy TKC a gift . . . From the top photo . . . Those priceless Ari Menthols would be a great place to start!!!

In any event . . .

What we notice here is that the menthol ban is downplayed and this effort is branded as a "flavor" ban to protect kids when it actually is directed at adults.

Check-it:

Under the ordinance introduced by Mayor Pro Tem Ryana Parks-Shaw, the sale of all flavored tobacco products, including a variety of dessert, fruit and menthol flavors, would be banned in Kansas City.

Some 400 cities and states have passed similar bans. If Kansas City follows suit, it would have the first flavored-tobacco ban in Missouri, and one of only a few in the Midwest.
