Kansas City Landlords Launch Lawsuit Against Government Voucher Mandate

Some might say this is a struggle to keep every apartment building from turning into a government funded housing project.

Others applaud the KCMO effort to secure affordable housing for those who don't meet qualifications.

Once again Kansas City is going to court in order to fight over controversial policy pushed by activists.

This morning's response from Mayor Q highlighted by TKC readers . . .

"Despite work done by many, myself included, to ensure landlord interests had fair protections to review and reject renters as necessary, some have filed suit to strike down the City's policy. We will defend the policy, modeled on suburbs and cities like Clayton, MO and Tempe, AZ.

"While I've received strong pushback in the past from tenant interests on why we are so deliberate and not as far reaching as they may like, this is why. We write rules that will adhere to our prior laws and to overcome challenges like these. We will here."
