Kansas City Faith Bloggers Sings Praises Of National Catholic Reporter

Local newsman Bill Tammeus has up close & personal experience with this public and he's the best person to write-up an explanation of their mission.

Here at TKC we've kinda seen their inner-workings from the outside and here's our quickie contribution:

- The publication is headquartered in Kansas City yet they have international resources and cover their faith community from a global perspective. The small niche publication deserves credit for being able to sustain their operation for more than a generation with very few readers understanding how they're able to scale their operation. (Hint: Rich people giving away a lot of money explains so many mysteries . . .)

- Catholic conservatives have turned against this news source and attempted to offer counter-publications along with other Internets alternatives. NCR leans progressive and the right-wing of the Church has increasingly attacked their motives.

- Still . . . Objectively NCR stands above most of their competition by way of investigative reporting and in-depth features, again, at a scale that few other outlets can match.

Here's the crux of Bill's write-up . . .

"The truth is that NCR has been holding the Catholic Church's feet to the fire since the paper began in 1964 as an outgrowth of a diocesan publication. "
