Kansas City Crime 2024: Homicides Down, Shootings Up

The eternal struggle against big city violence continues and KCMO's most important crime stat might just boil down to bad aim.

KCPD shared that year-to-date homicide numbers are down, but other crimes continue to affect all of Kansas City.

“Unfortunately we have an increase from last year to date on nonfatal shootings, so we are really working in those spaces trying to identify our crime drivers and making sure we are interrupting violence,” she said.
