Kansas City 2024 Homicide Count Hits #117 After Teen Death & Morning Gunfire

KCMO is now tied with the 2021 pace of homicides as the progress touted earlier in the year is starting to fade and this might now be ANOTHER one of the most violent years in KCMO history . . .

Homicide 7500 block E 87th LATE DEATH

On 09/02/2024 around 6:30PM, officers responded to the 7500 block of E. 87th St. in regard to a reported shooting.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a nearby store.

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was standing in the parking lot of the store armed with a firearm when there was an exchange of gunfire between the victim and unknown suspects. The victim was transported to an area hospital where he received medical care, but succumbed to his injuries on 10/03/2024.

This incident is now being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.

From this morning . . . 

Homicide 400 block E Armour

On 10-4 -24 around 2AM officers were dispatched to 400 block E Armour on a shooting. Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim who was suffering from multiple apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment and was listed in life threatening critical condition.

This morning, around 8AM detectives were notified the victim had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by medical staff.

Homicide detectives have assumed responsibility of this investigation and is ongoing at this time.

Teen dies from wounds suffered in early September parking lot shooting

A 17-year-old died from his injuries on Thursday after he was shot a month prior in southeast Kansas City.


One man dead after shooting in east Kansas City

Kansas City police said that just before 10:30 a.m. they were sent to reports of a shooting on College Avenue near 54th Street.
