Kansas City 2024 Homicide #127: Shooting Kills At Little Caesars On Blue Ridge

Tonight we share a South Kansas City slice of life and the second instance of deadly gunfire in the past 24 hours.

Homicide 8700 Blue Ridge

Tonight just after 8pm officers were dispatched to the business at 8700 Blue Ridge on a shooting call.

On arrival officers were directed inside the business where they located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive.

Officers summoned EMS inside the business and they declared the victim deceased at the scene.

Responding Officers detained an adult male subject of interest who was at the scene when officers arrived for further investigation.

Investigation indicates the suspect and victim were inside the business when they became involved in an argument. The argument quickly escalated which led to a shot or shots being fired and the victim being struck. The suspect and victim were known to each other and this appears to be the result of an argument or disagreement.

Detectives are at the scene canvassing for witnesses and working with crime scene investigators to process and gather all available evidence. Detectives are also talking to numerous people who were at the scene when officers arrived to gather more information about what led up to the shooting.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
