Kansas City 2024 Homicide #123: Double Shooting Kills In Northeast

An overnight urban core argument sparked gunfire that echoed through the Northeast Kansas City early this morning. 

We notice that this year's homicide count is staying even with 2021 -- The year after KCMO murder stats started trending upward.

Here is the first report . . .

Homicide Roberts and Bales

This morning just after 3:00 AM officers responded to Roberts and Bales on the report of gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival they located an adult male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began rendering aid and ordered EMS to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

While officers were on scene an additional adult male victim showed up to a local hospital by private vehicle. That victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary investigation revealed there was an interaction between several individuals outside of a vehicle that led to shots being fired.  Detectives are canvassing the scene for witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage. Crime scene personnel are processing and collecting any physical evidence.
