Kansas City 2024 Homicide #122: Blunt Force Trauma Kills Victim

This week rising crime dominates local news and for late night/early morning readers we wanted to share this roundup that offers insight into increasingly rough life on local streets.

Here's the latest update sent to local media . . .

Homicide 6th and Monroe

This evening just before 7:30 P.M. patrol officers were dispatched to the 3700 blk of Independence Avenue on the report of a party armed.

Upon arrival they located an adult male victim suffering from bodily trauma. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Simultaneously, officers were dispatched to the area of 6th and Monroe on an ambulance en route call.  It was determined both of these calls were related. The original incident occurred at 6th and Monroe.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim to have injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. Responding officers were able to locate several witnesses on scene. Detectives are interviewing those witnesses to determine the events that led up to incident. Crime scene personnel are processing the scene for any physical evidence.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
