Kansas City 2024 Homicide #121: Police Investigate Deadly Gunfire

Despite prayers for peace this weekend and work to reduce the number of guns on local streets.

Sunday night concludes with another addition to this town's 2024 homicide count.

 Homicide 35th and Cleveland

This evening at about 5:30 PM patrol officers were dispatched to 35th and Cleveland on a reported shooting.

Upon arrival officers located an adult male victim in the parking lot of a convenience store suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately began performing life saving measures and ordered EMS. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

This is being investigated as a homicide. Detectives are working to determine the events that led up to the shooting.  Detectives are also interviewing witnesses and crime scene personnel are processing the scene for any physical evidence.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
