Kansas City 2024 Homicide #118: Dispute On Drury Ends In Deadly Gunfire

For late night www.TonysKansasCity.com readers we share the latest update on local violence continuing to take it's toll. 

This is the 3rd homicide counted today and 2nd instance of deadly gunfire on Friday in KCMO.

Here is the first report . . .

Homicide 2000 block Drury

This evening around 8:30PM officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Drury on a reported shooting.

When officers arrived, EMS was already on scene and advised an adult male victim was located in the street and declared deceased after suffering from gunshot trauma.

Preliminary investigation indicates an argument took place between the victim and an adult male suspect that escalated to gunfire and the victim was struck.

There is no person of interest identified at this time and no one is in custody.

This incident is being investigated as homicide is considered ongoing.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene to begin gathering any evidence and collecting witness statements.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.

We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
