Tonight we share inside word and a preview of a controversial move that THREATENS to reshape Dowtown Kansas City for generations to come . . .

MAYOR Q DUMPING PARKS BOARD OPPOSITION AGAINST DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY ROYALS STADIUM!!!

We previewed this move as soon as the Parks Board guy piped up against the Washington Square plan. 

However . . .

Now, thanks to a KICK-ASS INSIDER, our www.TonysKansasCity.com blog community is sharing a glimpse at how this plan is taking shape behind the scenes. 

In fairness, the Mayor might be within his rights to make the switch BUT there will be a political price for this flex and it could spark even more push back against the latest downtown plan.

Insider: Mayor Q Dumping Parks Board Member

We all know Mayor Q is orchestrating a plan that would make him the ultimate savior of professional baseball in Kansas City and was close to pulling it off at Washington Square Park until his staff couldn't keep their mouth shut to the press.  KC Park Board Member Tom Gorenc correctly pointed out that the City Charter is very specific about park property and independence of the Park Board created during the City Beautiful era.

Gorenc's correct vocal opposition to handing over Washington Square Park without a proper public vote made him one of many targets of Mayor Q's team.

Word is you won't hear about it until a new commissioner shows up at the next meeting but he's supposedly strong armed Tom Gorenc off the Park Board. With Gorenc rumored replacement, Lucas thinks he's greased the skids so his plans go thru unchallenged.

Anyone can see Lucas hates the independence of the Park Board and is still frustrated by his failed attempt to eliminate it through the 2023 charter commission.  

City forefathers had the wisdom to see a politico like Q who would give away public property to rich developers and it's why they made the Park Board autonomous.   

The ultimate irony lay in the fact that while Lucas acts like he's for transparency in government and community values, he's going to try and use all his power no matter what the cost. He's threatening the very essence of beautiful boulevards, historic parks,  and fountains that make us the "Paris of the Plains.".

More and more people realize that beneath the surface of Q's polished rhetoric is nothing more than blind personal ambition to be the guy that "saves" the Royals and everyone appointed to a board will realize all hail Mayor Q.
