Detectives also report the shooting started inside Westport Media Collective, which Kansas City’s Public Safety Task Force shut down Tuesday.

According to the task force, the business was operating without a valid license or a current fire marshal inspection.

“They're problematic on a weekly basis. Loud at night, beer bottles in the morning. I feel a lot better that they are officially closed and gone. That's what should have happened a long time ago,” said Estienne Vaensland, a stylist at Got Hair Midtown, which is directly below Westport Media Collective, located on the second floor of the same building.
