Sparks Fly After Jackson County Prosecutor Debate Postponed

Finally . . .

We've got some REAL DEBATE about the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office that might get more people interested in this election that's critical to the future of the Kansas City metro.

To wit . . .

JACKSON COUNTY PROSECUTOR CANDIDATES CRITICIZE ONE ANOTHER AFTER LAST NIGHT'S DEBATE WAS POSTPONED!!!

Republican Tracey Chappell seems to have started the political ruckus with this knock against her opponent earlier today . . .

"Although my opponent canceled our debate shortly before it was scheduled, I still came out to meet with Jackson County voters who arrived expecting to see a debate.

"Your concerns about property crimes, violent crimes, and community safety deserve attention and answers.

"Leadership means showing up, especially when tough questions need to be addressed—and I’m ready to deliver real solutions for Jackson County."

And then . . .

Democratic Party contender Melesa Johnson discloses her recent COVID recovery and fires back against criticism . . .

"To those who were planning to attend the debate yesterday hosted by the Broadway Westport Council, I truly apologize for any inconvenience. I am recovering from COVID and immediately advised the organizers as soon as I tested positive. We collectively decided that postponing the event was best. Unfortunately, my Republican opponent is using this opportunity to spread misinformation about the campaign despite knowing that I could not attend a public event due to illness.  I am fully committed to rescheduling!

"Our 3rd debate of the General Election will take place this Friday! During the primary, I participated in over 10 debates, some of which my current opponent was invited to but declined to participate in the last minute (specifically the League of Women Voters and Midtown KC Now forums). Please know that I welcome every opportunity to speak with Jackson Countians about my plans for our community. I will see you all Friday (masked up of course) and beyond! On to November …"

As always, here at www.TonysKansasCity.com we ENCOURAGE INTENSE DEBATE and not only hope this tense exchange helps fire up voters but also leads to a more rigorous discussion when these candidates finally meet . . .
